About Us
Baltimore Red Line Underground is the homepage of the West-East Coalition against Red Line Alternative 4C: a volunteer organization of community leaders, neighborhood groups, and citizens from all parts of Baltimore concerned by the negative effects of the Red Line as currently proposed.
We support mass transit and favor several of the alternatives offered by Red Line project engineers, including extending light rail underground in residential neighborhoods.
But the current favored plan, Alternative 4C, is not the best choice. It has won some official support because it appears to be affordable right now.
We want what is best for Baltimore. Not what is merely good enough. We want a sustainable, safe, long term light rail. Not just what we can afford at the moment. We want mass transit, and we just want it done the right way.

It appears the opposition to the surface Red Line has lost. What can be done? Very Angry Canton Resident.
Gregory – this is nowhere near a done deal and the community is up in arms even more than before. This is NOT an end, it is a beginning of a whole new process at the federal level. Baltimore still has to compete for funding with many other cities’ projects, a lot of which are actually legitimate mass transit plans.
